KIZAKI, Manami (Mana)
A high school freshman (sophomore, by U.S. standards) from a single parent household. Though to most western sensibilities it would be negligible in the case of twins, Mana is the ane, or older sister. She is often described as reticent and unconcerned with her own safety, and is certainly introverted and has a hard time connecting with others. The only exception is her twin, Kenji, with whom she has a near precognitive connection. Despite her seeming unresponsiveness, Mana is quick thinking and level-headed in a crisis, and in fact understands other people rather well. She likes the ocean and things made of glass. And Sawatari Hitoshi.

KIZAKI, Kenji
Mana's twin brother, likewise a high school freshman. Kenji is the otouto, or younger brother. Outgoing, hot-headed and good at sports, Kenji has a much easier time interacting with people than does Mana. Kenji is the glue that holds the three members of the Kizaki household together, and often tries to mediate between mother and daughter. Mana is his special responsibility, and he does his utmost to protect her. To this end he is very brave as well as rash, and ends up in over his head at times. Kenji is very close to Mana, and always knows how to find her, wherever she may be. It irks Kenji that Mana opens up to Hitoshi.

SAWATARI, Hitoshi
A 24-year-old college graduate student who is boarding and working part-time in a glassware shop. Hitoshi appears to look at Mana as something of a kindred spirit. In fact, she is one of few things that can get beyond his mild smile and composed demeanor. The other is the frequent migraines he suffers from. He wears glasses, so he must be hiding something. And he smokes, so there must be a terrible secret in his past. Hitoshi admits to Mana and Kenji that his father was an extra-terrestrial, but there are other mysteries surrounding him, and his eagerness to have Mana and Kenji forget about them makes him suspect. Kenji finds Hitoshi highly suspicious.

Juou
A weapon created by the colony world E'dyua. Juou, also known as the gold child, has been alive for 600 years. Juou is made of gold Saitia, a liquid that can mimic most other known substances, and can take any form he pleases. And his shape changes as frequently as his mood - depending on the panel, he may appear as a toddler, a preteen, a young man, or anything in between. His sole purpose is to kill, but his temperament is very unusual for a killer. Open, inquisitive and very expressive, Juou tends to look at the world in black and white and expects everyone to be honest. He hates nothing more than he hates lies, and seems to like no one more than Mana.
