The Winamp Skin Collection |
|
|
This little space is where all my Winamp skins that are fit for display (or something close to that) are collected for general consumption. Because loading your workspace with little pieces of stories you love and artists you admire is only right.
There are ideologies in Winamp skin-making; mine is influenced by Wai! Wai! Anime Skins, and is as follows: Skins 1) should be modular. 2) should avoid visual right-heaviness. 3) are okay without playlists, browsers, etc. 4) should not have AMP in their names. As to what that actually means, you need only look below.
Angelique(2), Basara(1), Fruits Basket(1),
Galerians(1), Gensou Suikoden(1), Lunar(4) Nurse Angel Ririka(1)

Crimson Fantasie(Angelique) |
|
|
Winamp2
Main/Equalizer
Hidden: Monoster, Balance, Open File
Font: Garamond
It seemed so simple.
But simplicity decreases as the number of faces on the skin increases. If you're wondering where the Open File button went, it's chibi-Clavis's nose.
The image is a modification of the cover of Solitaire Fantasie, the soundtrack for the second Gaiden drama, by the extremely talented Yura Kairi. |

Pretty Boi(Angelique) |
|
|
Winamp2
Main/Equalizer
Hidden: Monoster, Balance
Font: Inkburrow
Fear the Pink, for truly it is Mighty.
And don't forget to give the purple and the copious sparkle it's due besides. But don't fear flamboyant Olivie, because he's all in good fun. Though beware when he's looking for a makeover candidate...
The title was coined by Clavis no Miko (of Clavis-sama.com), who wrote of Olivie, "Toss that hair, pretty boi!" Indeed. |

Calico Silk(Basara) |
|
|
Winamp2
Main/Equalizer
Hidden: Monoster, Balance
Font: Anke Calligraph
Calico should not be used to modify silk.
But I didn't let that stop me, mostly because I had no other ideas. Sarasa, the name of the heroine of Tamura Yumi's epic manga Basara, means calico.
In any case, Sarasa looks quite snappy in this outfit. And little Shinbashi peeking out from behind the Open File button! Precious! I'm very happy with the outcome of this skin.

Onigiri!(Fruits Basket) |
|
|
Winamp2
Main/Equalizer/Playlist
Hidden: Monoster, Balance
Font: Boomerang
I love Fruits Basket.
So, back before it was well known outside of Japan I started making this skin out of a chirashi scan snagged from an online auction.
Fruits Basket has a sense of old-fashioned Japanese virtue, which I went after with temari and kimono patterns. It also has a sense of shoujo-ness, which I went after with copious pink. |

Mujaki Innocence(Galerians) |
|
|
Winamp2
Main/Equalizer
Hidden: Monoster, Balance
Font: OCR-A
A quiet little haze of madness.
I still can't get over how cool the background effect is. And entirely unintentional.
There are different kinds of innocence. Innocence as in guiltlessness would be tsumi no nai. Tsumi no nai does not apply to Galerians' main character Rion. But, he looks so innocent... |

Water Margin(Gensou Suikoden) |
|
|
Winamp2
Main/Equalizer
Hidden: Monoster, Balance
Font: Anke Caligraph
Swamps never seemed so adventurous.
A story about a group of heroic fugitives who hide in the wilderness at the shore of a lake to avoid corrupt authorities: the Legend of the Water Margin.
Unfortunately, equalizer, playlist and Jowy's face all converged at the same point. That area looks rather clumsy. |
